New Laptop

I’ve been without a personal laptop for a few weeks now since the display in my HP laptop is not functioning. I finally got around to buying a new laptop. I wanted to get a decent laptop without spending too much money. Unfortunately since the last time that I bought a laptop, the standard screen size has evolved to 1366×768. Adding a higher resolution screen adds a bit more to the price than I wanted.

I decided that I would not be buying an HP laptop this time. I’ve already got two of them that died with similar symptoms. I decided to go with a Lenovo Z565. It’s got a dual core Phenom II processor and 4GB of memory, which is more than suitable for my needs. It’s been pretty responsive while I’ve been tinkering with it. Overall, it’s a good balance of performance and battery life.

The was one thing that I will be fixing immediately. It came with Windows 7 pre-installed. I’ll be installing Linux over the top of it at the first opportunity.
