On my way into work this morning, I blew a radiator hose about half a mile away from work. I managed to make it to the parking lot before steam erupted everywhere. Unfortunately, I did not have any tools with me so I called a friend to bring some tools. My friend with the tools arrive, and we look at the hose. One of the fittings blew out in the upper hose. The hose was real easy to remove. (Sorry no pictures.)

My friend gave me a ride over to BMW of Nashville to get a new hose and some antifreeze. I was pleasantly surprised at the cost of the hose.  It was only $70 with tax. Most people think that this is pretty high, but in comparison to the amount that I spent on a turbo hose for my old Volvo 740 Turbo, this was quite reasonable.  I thought the antifreeze was rather high at $25 a gallon. I’ll need to do some research to see what’s so special about BMW antifreeze and what my alternatives are.
